On September 23, a capacity crowd gathered at the Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center to welcome four significant contributors to the sport of skiing into the Will and Jean Pickett Intermountain Ski Hall of Fame.

The museum's new "Hometown Heroes" exhibit honors four local athletes who excelled in the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games.  This exhibit will be completed and open to the public in July, 2011.

The Will and Jean Pickett Intermountain Ski Hall of Fame will kick off the season by inducting four outstanding contributors to ski sport on Thursday, September 22.  Honorees are: Kit DesLauriers, William "Bill" Levitt, Raymond Stewart, and Dean Robert Theobald.  Festivities are scheduled to start at 6:00 at the Joe Quinney Winter Sports Center, Utah Olympic Park, Park City, Utah.  Seating is limited. The 2011 Class of Inductees for the Intermountain Ski Hall of Fame has been announced.  Being honored September 22, 2011 at the Intermountain Ski Hall of Fame ceremony are: Kit DesLauriers, Inspirational Skier; William "Bill" Levitt (deceased), Ski Sport Innovator; Raymond Stewart (deceased), Ski Pioneer; and Dean Robert Theobald, Ski Sport Innovator.

Not content to rest on the laurels of his legendary dad, Alan Engen made his own significant contributions to Utah's ski history.

He will be remembered most as an insightful chronicler of that history, providing first-hand reflections on the beginning of a sport that means so much to the people of Utah, supporting thousands of jobs as well as producing plenty of pleasure. He ensured that posterity will remember Alf Engen and the state's other ski pioneers.

The Alf Engen Ski Museum has a mascot!  Wearing his bright blue cape and wagging his tail, Baio, a friendly golden retriever/yellow lab combination, greets field-trip students and other museum visitors.

In commemoration of the late Alf Engens 100th birthday anniversary on May 15, 2009, a slideshow presenting over 50 photos of major events in Alfs life can be found on the Alfs 100th Birthday Anniversary page. A capacity crowd of 160 gathered at the Quinney Center on September 24 to welcome four new inductees into the Will and Jean Pickett Intermountain Ski Hall of Fame. The honorees and their categories of achievement are: Richard D. Bass, Ski Pioneer, Utah; Alan K. Engen, Ski Sport Innovator, Utah; Siegfried (Sigi) Engl, Ski Sport Innovator, Idaho (deceased); and Mike Korologos, Ski Sport Innovator, Utah.

Teachers participating in the Alf Engen Ski Museums Field Trip Program will find our Field Trip Curriculum book on the Teacher Resources page.  Lesson plans, based on the Fourth Grade Utah Core Curriculum, are ready to download and use in the classroom.

Our new mobile display case will hold a rotating exhibit of 720 ski figurines from around the world donated by Barbara Stewart Anderson.

The Alf Engen Ski Museum is pleased to announce the completion of a state-of-the-art, multi-media video wall exhibit in our foyer.  This innovative digital exhibit features 4 x 40 LCD screens broadcasting live information including upcoming events, current activities at Utah Olympic Park, webcams, mini-movies, time, weather and much more.

The Alf Engen Ski Museum has a new exhibit in place – a Web Marketing Kiosk installed by CentralPoint Systems. The new kiosk is unique in that it brings the Web to the museum and adds a new interactive element that will enhance the visitors overall museum experience.

LOCAL OLYMPIANS HONORED IN NEW MUSEUM EXHIBIT - PARK CITY, UT - The legacy of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games in Salt Lake City and the success of the 2010 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams will be celebrated in a new Hometown Heroes exhibit at the Alf Engen Ski Museum in Park City. The special display commemorating local stars will open Tuesday, Dec. 6 at the museum located at the Utah Olympic Park.

For the first time, in 2011, the International Skiing History Association (ISHA) and the US National Ski & Snowboard Hall of Fame (HALL OF FAME) joined forces for a week of celebration that will not soon be forgotten.

During the week beginning March 27 and ending April 3, Sun Valley Resort hosted ISHA's Skiing Heritage Week along with the annual Hall of Fame induction. It marked the resort's 75th anniversary.
